Barley
One of the oldest of the domesticated crops, barley dates back to the Nile over 18,000 years ago. This delightfully multipurpose cereal grain has a rich nutlike flavor and an appealing chewy, pasta-like consistency. Our barley is pearlized and polished removing the tough inedible outer hull exposing its beneficial endosperm. Barleys’ nutritional profile includes molybdenum, manganese, dietary fiber, and selenium; it’s also a good source of copper, vitamin B1, chromium, phosphorus, magnesium, and niacin.
Barley is used in soups, cereal, pharmaceuticals, animal feed. It also serves as a substrate for the production of alcoholic beverages, in particular beer.
